FAQs

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction, and conflict, and often focuses on resolving issues or difficulties from the past. Coaching, on the other hand, supports personal and professional growth based on the present moment, with a vision in mind for the best and brightest future.

While coaching is more future-focused and goal-oriented than counseling, I draw from my psychology education when working with clients. My empathetic approach is deeply rooted in the philosophies of Positive Psychology, which focuses on helping clients to flourish and to lead their best lives through optimal functioning.

I coach my clients to develop and work towards small, attainable goals meant for creating lasting change, and I enjoy celebrating with them when they are successful!

Who can benefit from working with a Holistic Wellness Coach?

There are many reasons to consider working with a Holistic Wellness Coach. A coach can help you to identify your health and wellness-related goals, as well as strengths and challenges, to create a step-by-step plan that is uniquely tailored to you. A good coach will also provide both accountability and support along the way.

A Holistic Wellness Coach can assist you with making a major health-related change, such as losing weight or quitting smoking, and/or can help you to make sense of a new diagnosis that requires lifestyle modifications. In general, Wellness Coaching is a great option for anyone looking to improve their overall health and well-being!

What other types of health-related support do you provide? Do you support men and non-binary clients, too?

As a Nationally Board-Certified Holistic Wellness Coach, I am well-equipped to work with folks who identify as male, female, and/or non-binary to incorporate diet; exercise; stress management strategies; and other lifestyle modifications into their busy schedules. Additionally, I work with clients who are suffering from chronic illness and/or pain to learn how to better manage their conditions so that they can experience improved health outcomes and lead fuller and more independent lives. I also enjoy helping clients to incorporate mindfulness-based practices, as well as more balance, into their everyday lives.

Why do you offer yoga and meditation as adjuncts to your coaching services?

Meditative yoga practices that combine gentle movement, intentional breathing, and deep-tissue stretching can be healing in nature because they encourage students to quiet their overactive minds as they tune into their bodies. This type of awareness allows for the release of unwanted emotions, as well as trauma that has manifested as pain and tension.

I enjoy teaching students of all ages and abilities how to foster self-love, confidence, and presence of mind. I encourage and hold a healing and supportive space, which is key to cultivating a sense of peace and relaxation.
